To test the color, tap a small amount into a lid or onto a piece of paper and using a fluffy type brush, swirl some mineral into the brush and apply to your face. The best spot to test a color is right along your jaw, so you can see the color against your cheek and neck. The perfect match is one that blends in and you almost can't see it. If it's obviously too dark or light, you'll know. If you have more difficult skin to match (severe blotchiness, discolorations, multiple tones), then you will want to apply to your whole face and see the finished result. Start out with a light coverage and then build to suit your taste.
